While the Pan Am logo can only be found in vintage stores these days, from 1927 to 1991, the iconic company was at the forefront of international air travel and became one of the best-known brands on the planet.

To celebrate the airline’s 90th anniversary, design publisher Callisto has released an updated, “premium” edition of Matthias C. Huhne’s Pan Am: History, Design & Identity, a 432-page book covering the airline’s glory years, all the way to its somewhat untimely demise.

It isn’t all lofty milestones, as the tome covers the December 21, 1988 bombing of Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Besides a comprehensive history of the airline, Huhne has hit the photographic jackpot, presenting scads of historical images of Pan Am airplanes, flights, and staff. There are also black-and-white and full-color advertisements for the airline’s destinations, and a close look at how the Pan Am logo changed throughout the decades.

Coming in its own collector’s hard-case, the premium edition of the book is set to publish on March 7, and will retail for $900. (A standard edition is also available for $70.) Pre-order the special premium edition here.
