One of New York City’s most historic mansions is hitting the auction block on Dec. 20. And it could be yours if you have the millions required to call it home.

Located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the 37-foot-wide Kleeberg Residence was built in the 19th century and offers 10,897 square feet of French Renaissance Revival opulence. Inside the 18-room mansion, you’ll find eight bedrooms—including a two-bedroom suite—nine-and-a-half bathrooms, and nine gaslit fireplaces. Its exterior includes four private terraces that offer sweeping views of River Side Park and the Hudson Bay.

Of course, the residence that high-end architect C.P.H. Gilbert brought to fruition didn’t have all of the amenities the currently well-restored one does. For example, the cobalt-blue-accented and exposed-brick kitchen is a new addition, as is the spa/gym/sauna area and indoor resistance pool. The master suite has also been updated with a marble bath and walk-in closet.

Other quirks include a small piano room that drains out onto one of the four terraces, a grand dining room, and giant sitting room/living area.

The home was sold to William Guggenheim in 1908 (a relative of the Solomon R., who founded the famed museum), who sold it to his neighbor in 1910 (only to buy it back five years later). It’s current owner, Regina Kislin, purchased it in the middle ’90s for $10 million.

Despite its $10 million price-tag over 20 years ago, the residence’s pre-auction estimate is just $13 million to $16 million.
