One auction house recently put the Hope Diamond of Michael Jackson albums up for auction—and then mysteriously took it down.
According to entertainment critic Roger Friedman on his Showbiz 411 blog, the Gotta Have Rock and Roll auction house posted a link to the auction for Jackson’s fabled, unreleased “Cascio” album, which the pop superstar recorded in New Jersey in 2007. (Friedman was the first to report on its existence back in 2010.) The auction house was asking $1 million for it.
(The auction house did not immediately return a phone call from RealClearLife when it called for comment.)
The album, which contains 12 tracks, was recorded in the home of Eddie Cascio, a family friend of Jackson’s. The auction house supposedly had a “master-tape quality CD” of the album, which it had obtained from a Jackson confidant.
Three of the album’s songs have already been featured on Jackson’s posthumously released Michael album, which dropped in 2010.
Jackson died in 2009.
