An enterprising West Coast resident has found religion — as a great place to live.
The 100-year-old former Second Church of Christ Scientist in the heart of San Francisco’s Dolores Heights neighborhood has gotten a complete overhaul in the last six years. The project was spearheaded by Siamak Akhavan, a seismic engineer, who wanted to convert the church into the penthouse apartment of his dreams.
The property is actually so big it’s split into four units—the penthouse, which is owned by Akhavan; and three others, which have since sold for approximately $6 million each.
The last unit sold was a three-level, 5,075-square-footer, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. It also included a chef’s kitchen, den, and media room. Not to mention a two-car garage, which is scarcer than snow in San Francisco.
