Rent a Former Synagogue Transformed Into a Luxe Pad in NYC’s East Village

Real Estate By
Starry Night Apartment
(Oasis Collections)

Oasis Collections has a particularly unique apartment available in New York City’s bustling East Village neighborhood—just minutes from Union Square, SoHo, and the West Village. Nicknamed “Starry Night,” the four-level building used to be a synagogue but was gutted and recast as a luxury townhouse in 2005 by the brains behind the Ian Schrager Hotels.

The first- and second-floor space opens to 22-foot-high ceilings, Brazilian hardwood cherry floors, Brazilian glass mosaic tiles, and Wenge wood paneling. (It also includes a Cantilever balcony with a built-in projector.) The kitchen has a 20-foot island with Italian granite counters and Wenge cabinets, as well as a state-of-the-art wine cooler.

After dinner in the kitchen (below) or the dining room behind it, retire to the rooftop hot tub for a cigar and snifter of your favorite digestif. (It seats eight, so feel free to bring a lot of friends.)

The third level of the townhouse includes a library, an Italian-marble fireplace, and wet bar. On this floor, a large guest bedroom can sleep two—or can be split into two separate rooms on request.
