Who needs a hotel in Paris when you can just stay in the Eiffel Tower? After a designer converted a section of the tower into a one-of-a-kind apartment, winners of a HomeAway competition are just now getting to spend a night in these unique living quarters. A living room, urban greenhouse, and two bedrooms hover around 18 stories above the Champ de Mars. The guest designer for the temporary apartment, Benoit Leleu, drew inspiration from the Parisian Haussmann style, combining it with modern touches.

Contest judges chose four sets of winners from more than 150,000 entries that answered, “What would you do if the HomeAway Eiffel Tower Apartment was all yours for a night?” Each winner could bring up to five guests to enjoy a night of quintessential French activities and cuisine. The Forsans family, from France, were the first to spend the night inside the iconic monument. The other groups will have the exclusive experience on July 4 and July 8, respectively. “Going through the thousands of entries was inspiring and heartwarming,” said Brian Sharples, HomeAway co-founder and CEO. “From clever entries that rhymed, punned, and made us laugh; to stories of families reuniting, celebrating, and working to overcome challenges, it was incredibly hard to narrow it down and even harder to choose just four.” —Rex Features
