When a gentleman thinks “hotel spa,” the first thing that comes to his mind is probably a dimly lit room, scented candles everywhere, Enya playing softly, and seated in the middle of it all a towel-mummy with cucumber slices over her eyes and her face covered with a cream that’s as thick as cake icing. In other words, not his cup of tea; the hotel bar is usually where he ends up. But the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail has just the antidote—let us say a “blending” of the two.

The hotel’s locations in Vail, Colorado and Chicago recently launched a series of bourbon-themed, male-only spa treatments—a manicure ($65-$75 for 24 minutes; appears to be a Chicago exclusive), pedicure ($95 for 50 minutes), full-body massage ($250 for 80 minutes), and shave-and-a-haircut ($37)—which all make use of a number of Kentucky bourbon–infused spa products, as well as the imbibe-able stuff itself.

For example, the pedi includes a “bourbon bubbler” scrub that’s made out of brown sugar and actual Kentucky whiskey, which is applied to the feet as you sit in the barber’s chair. (Presumably, the person shaving you with a straight-edge razor will not be matching you drink-for-drink.)

Each treatment session also includes a generous pour (or more) of whiskey to drink prior to, during, or afterwards (like 10th Mountain, a locally sourced whiskey from Vail). For more information on Four Seasons’ bourbon treatments, click here.
